  • Overview

Social dysfunction is a core and often early feature of schizophrenia that affects how individuals interpret social cues, regulate emotions, and engage with others in daily life. Advances in social processes and neuroscience have identified brain networks involved in emotion recognition and mentalizing, with subtle differences in neural activation linked to real-world functioning and social motivation. Join Dr. Shelina Ramnarine and Dr. Michael Green as they explore how these insights are shaping targeted psychosocial and emerging treatment strategies to improve social engagement and quality of life. Dr. Green is a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine, where he is also the Director of the Green Lab.
